Founder Jayne Dearborn started designing handbags as a personal outlet of hope and creativity after losing her son, Max, at the age of 7 to leukemia. She found comfort and inspiration in Max's room – now her studio – which re-ignited her soul and transformed crisis into creativity. Since its founding in April 2006, jaynemax designs reveal her interpretation of heartfelt luxury. The blue butterfly, inspired by her son Max, symbolizes her transcending tragedy to begin life again. Butterflies represent the universal symbol of hope, and blue is the color of healing. Building jaynemax unites Jayne's creativity with her passion for helping others thrive in their uniquely soulful style.
All proceeds for the Blue Butterfly tote bag and pouch are donated to the Blue Butterfly Campaign. The art was created by children in the cancer units at Duke University and Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Max's butterfly drawing is also included in the design.
